Solar Cable Inspection Checklist for EPC Procurement
Verify PV cable model, conductor, insulation, dimensions, markings, certificates, packaging, drums, quantity and traceability before shipment.
Updated October 2, 2026 Β· Prepared by GlobalFortuneCables technical sourcing team Β· For project specification and compliance decisions, confirm the applicable local code and model-specific documents with the project engineer, certification body or inspection authority.
Match the delivered model to the approved submittal
Confirm drum model, conductor material and size, insulation, sheath, voltage, dimensions, marking and quantity against the approved datasheet and purchase specification.
Check the certificate scope
Record the certificate or test-report number and confirm that it applies to the quoted model, construction and voltage. A logo or generic certificate is not enough.
Record traceability and packing
Photograph drum labels, batch information where available, cable markings, packaging condition and loading protection. Link every record to the inspection file.
Control substitutions
If a supplier proposes a similar model, request a formal comparison and technical approval before shipment. Similar cross-section does not mean equivalent construction or certification.
Standards and project evidence: what each layer proves
| Reference layer | Use in procurement | What to confirm | Buyer action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product identity | Prevents model substitution | Model, marking, drum label and approved submittal | Record the match |
| Technical evidence | Supports approval | Datasheet, certificate, test report and inspection record | Link documents to the model |
| Shipment condition | Reduces delivery damage | Drum, sealing, labels, quantity and loading | Photograph and record before release |
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most important inspection item?
Match the delivered model and documents to the approved project specification. A visual check cannot replace document and electrical verification.
Should cable length be measured before shipment?
The inspection plan should define how length is verified or documented according to the contract and project requirements.
What if the supplier offers a similar cable?
Request a formal technical comparison and approval before shipment.
